Which files can I include?
It's important to note that most of Essential Mod’s files are not suitable for inclusion in modpacks. This is due to potential conflicts with CurseForge/Modrinth policies, as these files may contain sensitive data like screenshot cache and alt manager credentials.
The only file you may consider including is
config.toml located in .minecraft/essential. However, it's highly recommended to avoid including this file, as the default settings are adequate in the vast majority of cases.If you choose to include and modify

.minecraft/essential to locate the config.toml file, which encompasses all settings available in Essential Mod (also accessible via its settings menu).For any edits to the
config.toml file, ensure its validity using a TOML validator. We recommend using this TOML validator website for accuracy.Please refrain from modifying settings labeled as
hidden.hidden; these are reserved for internal use within Essential Mod.Essential Mod Updates
Essential Mod, in the past, would always keep itself up to date. Auto updates are now opt-in by default for all users! See Let’s Talk Security for more information around that.
When you download Essential Mod directly from our Download page, you're getting the mod loader, which installs the latest version of Essential Mod compatible with your selected Minecraft version.
Downloading Essential Mod from CurseForge or Modrinth provides the full mod, including the specific Essential Mod version for your selected Minecraft version.
Please note that users can still update Essential Mod manually by either enabling auto-updates or responding to update prompts. The update feature is integral and cannot be completely disabled.
