Account Security
Keeping your account secure helps protect your data, purchases, and in-game experience.
Your account is yours—protecting it helps prevent unauthorized access, lost progress, and unwanted activity.
Passwords
Your password is your first line of defense. If someone gains access to it, they may be able to:
Access your personal information
Make purchases or use your funds
Pretend to be you
Read your private messages
Change your account settings or lock you out of your account
Using a strong password along with additional security measures helps reduce the risk of unauthorized access.
These risks are much higher if your password is the only thing protecting your account.
Keep your password safe
Never share your password with anyone for any reason
Avoid reusing the same password across multiple accounts
Only enter your password on official websites or apps. Legitimate companies will not ask for it via email, messages, or social media
Keep your linked only to devices and accounts you trust

Quick tip: Enable two-factor authentication (2FA) whenever it’s available and use a password manager (such as 1Password) to create and store strong, unique passwords.
Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
Two-factor authentication adds an extra step when logging in to confirm it’s really you. It helps protect your account even if your password is compromised.
Common 2FA methods include:
A passkey
A code sent via SMS (least secure)
A code generated by a well-known authenticator app
A push notification to your device
Biometric verification (fingerprint or face scan)
A physical USB security key
Device and Session Management
You can review and manage where your account is currently signed in. This helps you detect and remove unauthorized access from unknown devices.
This allows you to:
Check for unfamiliar devices or locations
Sign out of sessions you don’t recognize
Keep your account secure across all devices
What to do
Check active devices
Open your account settings and look for “Devices,” “Sessions,” or “Security.” Make sure all listed devices are familiar to you.
Sign out of unfamiliar devices
If you see something you don’t recognize, sign out of it immediately.
Update your password
If you remove an unknown device, change your password as soon as possible.
Enable alerts (if available)
Turn on notifications for new logins or unusual activity.
Minecraft Account
Do not share your account details with others, not even friends!
If you need to remove access from another device:
Revoke Essential’s access through your Microsoft account settings
Follow this guide for step-by-step instructions: https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/revoke-access-microsoft-account/
Allow time for the account token to expire (this may take up to 2 weeks due to Microsoft’s system)
