How to identify a scam
Watch for these warning signs:
Urgency or pressure
Messages that push you to act quickly (e.g. “Your account will be locked!”)
Requests for personal information
Requests for passwords, verification codes, or payment details
Legitimate services will not ask for your password.
Unusual payment methods
Unexpected requests for gift cards, cryptocurrency, or wire transfers
Suspicious links
Links with slight misspellings or unusual domains
Unofficial verification requests
Being asked to “verify” your account through random links, servers, or messages
Poor spelling or formatting
Messages with errors, awkward wording, or low-quality visuals
How to identify a fake account
Fake accounts are often used to spread scams.
Watch for these signs:
Suspicious usernames
Random characters, numbers, or names pretending to be official (e.g. “discord_admin0649”)
Missing or fake profile pictures
AI, Stock photos, or stolen images or no image
Spamming or mass tagging
Repeated messages, excessive tagging, or flooding channels with links or images
Unsolicited messages
Messages from unknown users offering free items, money, or links to join servers
